Northern Saw-Whet Owl The night she met her husband.
Being with her husband and a family around her.
Dying alone
For her Patronus, the night she met her husband, they were discussing their favorite animals and found out that they both loved owls. Oddly enough, she had a pet owl growing up which was named Achilles, and he had one named Patroclus. It was one reason she knew they were soulmates. Her mirror of Erised, her husband passed away along with miscarrying her daughter, it’s something she always wanted to have, even though now it will never come to be. She’s terrified dying alone out in the wilderness, where no one can hear her, or reach to her.
History
Rheya was born on the night of the full moon while her mother was out watching the stars and charting for work. She was out alone as her father was away on business fixing on telescopes. Calliope, her mother, went into labor and had her a few hours later. She was a bright child growing up, always going out with her mother to study the stars. The nighttime was her peace, it was like a drug that she craved. The curiosity of the balls of gas in the sky that hung there, always made her want to know more.
When she went to school, she was sorted into Corvus. She was a studious child and kept her marks up. Of course she rebelled a little, as every teenager would. Going to the school made her realize that she wanted to be a professor, so loved teaching and loved to teach something she was so passionate about. After she graduated from school, she set out to study more about being a professor and also made a side job to go out and fix telescopes with her father. That’s where she found her second passion, her husband Casieus. Her father and her were out in California fixing an elaborate telescope when he walked in. He stood about 6 foot, long brown hair to his shoulders, blue eyes, and a dazzling smile. Rheya was instantly hooked in, she wanted to know everything about his man. She talked to the man for hours, and at the end of the night he asked her out to dinner. Which was a relief, for they were going to spend the rest of the week there to work on the telescope. They spent everyday together and by the time she went home, she didn’t want to leave. For about 6 months, they exchanged letters once a week and eventually, she moved out to California to be with him. They were married 2 years later. About 3 years later, when Rheya was 27, she was accepted as the Astronomy professor at Salem Academy. It was the time to celebrate! She and Casieus were out on the town having dinner and drinks with friends, she knew that this was the start to a great career.
A year later, while teaching at the Academy, Rheya received devastating news. Casieus had died in a tragic accident. It knocked everything out of her, she felt like her world was upside down and she was drowning. How could he have passed? They still had a whole lifetime together and a child to raise as she was 7 months pregnant at the time. Seeing him lifeless was too much for her, she went into a deep depression. As if it wasn’t enough, her stress and depression caused her to go into early labor and sadly enough, her daughter did not survive childbirth. Rheya’s parents took her in and she took a leave of absence from the academy. If it wasn’t for her friends and family, she would not have made it, this she knows. Also her faith in Selene, the Moon Goddess helped her through it as well.
She was gone from the academy for almost a year when she finally came back. It was hard at first, for all her stuff was still placed around before Casieus passed, his picture on the desk, they’re portrait together when she was pregnant with their daughter, everything. She knew she couldn’t be sad for the rest of her life, it’s something Casieus wouldn't want her to do. She knew she had to be back and find her passion back in the stars, it lay dormant and needed to be released.
It’s been almost a year since Rheya has been back to Salem Academy, but she knew this would be her comeback, she is willing to teach, have friends and eventually find love again if it ever came to her. If not, she thinks that it will be ok too.
